Trends in International Mathematics & Science Study

The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study - South Africa (TIMSS-SA) takes place every four years and the results from the latest round were released in December 2020.

TIMSS is a cross-national assessment of the mathematics and science levels of learners from the various participating countries. It allows us to measure how effective we are in teaching mathematics and science by comparing ourselves to other countries. For study updates and a regular newsletter visit the TIMSS-SA website. There are also several journal articles, theses and working papers which draw on TIMSS-SA data which you can view in the research repository.
